Meet my Birds...

Hello, and welcome to my website! My name is Michelle Sawicki, and I have been breeding birds for most of my life. It all started when I was just a young teen with my first pair of budgies. They had babies in a little house I had made in ceramics class. Back then I knew nothing about proper chick care. Those little chicks were raised on seed alone, and they still managed to turn out healthy and cute. After that I was hooked...

For many years I bred lovebirds. I had some beautifully colored birds, my favorite being a yellow ground male with blue flecks throughout his body. He was absolutely gorgeous. Lovebirds require hand feeding every four hours if you want to raise them to be tame, and after a few years I grew tired of continually playing "mommy" to a bunch of little squawkers. At that point I moved on to gouldian finches, another bird known for its beauty. The finches fed and cared for their own young, but they were notoriously bad parents and also were very susceptible to illness. I eventually sold out of gouldians after raising them for a few years. And then I bought my first canary...

I brought home "Peeps" and put him in a 5 foot wide by 3 foot high cage. My husband laughed at the little bird in the huge cage and kept giving me knowing looks. He also kept grinning and saying things like, "I know where this is going." Needless to say, several years later I must admit that he did have it all figured out. Within a few months Peeps had a new girlfriend, and soon there were little bitty baby Peeps.

Peeps was not a pure bred canary. After owning him for a bit and researching canaries at my local library I realized there were many different types of canaries. Some were bred for color, some for body type, and others for song. After owning various canaries of differing types, I finally settled on my very favorite canary of all, the Russian Canary. There is no other canary type that sings quite like them. The beauty of their song can take your breath away. Not only that, but those little birds are awfully cute too. :)

I now only own Russian canaries. I generally have males and females available. My birds are either an intense deep yellow, pretty pastel yellow or gorgeous snowy white. Males are all song trained by a live tutor as well as a CD of a grand champion Russian Singer. If interested, visit my sale page to learn more about purchasing a canary. Thank you for coming to my website!
