Meet my Birds...

A bare area, called the brood patch, is visible on her underside.

7, 6 & 5 days old. Eyes are opening and pin feathers are starting to break the skin. Time for banding!

The oldest chicks will be banded.

The youngest chick looked thin upon banding and was fostered to another family.

Finally starting to look like birds instead of alien creatures. :)

Every once in a while a chick will leave the nest too early. This little guy would have been eaten in the wild!

Some breeders remove the chicks from their parents at this age.

I often don't remove the chicks until right before the hen's second clutch is about to hatch.
